Obituary
Dallas L. Jacob, 96, formerly of San
Jose passed away at 8:25 p.m. on January 4, 2018 at
St. Clara’s Manor.
Dallas was born on February 18, 1921 in Mason
County, son of William and Rosa (Imig) Jacob. He
married Irma Griffin on August 4, 1940 in St.
Charles, MO. She preceded him in death on August 29,
2015, after 75 years of marriage.
Surviving Dallas are his Children: Gary Jacob of
Lincoln, Linda (Thomas) Hashman of Lincoln, and
Robert (Dorinda) Jacob of Beason; grandchildren,
Kevin Hashman, Paula (Steve) Crawford, Coralee
(Brian) Stoltzenburg, Sarah Jacob, and Darren Jacob;
great grandchildren, Zachary Lee, Emma Stoltzenburg,
Kate Stoltzenburg, and Evan Crawford; one
great-great grandchild: Preston Lee-Boch. Dallas was
preceded in death by his parents, one son, Larry
Jacob, and his sister, Ruth Leinweber.
Dallas was a retired farmer in San Jose area after
retiring, he helped several farmers in Mason and
Logan County. He also worked 16 years at the Lincoln
Park District. He was a long time member of St.
Luke’s Lutheran Church in San Jose, where he held
many offices in the church. He became a member of
Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, after moving to
Lincoln. |
Dallas enjoyed being with his family
and telling his many jokes, helping to bring joy to
his family and friends. He liked fishing, playing
horse shoes, and other games. He played many
instruments in a band called the “Cookie Dusters” at
house and community dances. He and his wife were
members of Linpro Square Dance Club.
Services for Dallas will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday
January 11, 2018 at Zion Lutheran Church with Rev.
Mark Thompson officiating. Visitation will be from
4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday January 10, 2018 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Lincoln.
Burial at Mason City Cemetery will follow the
service.
Memorials may be made in Dallas’ name to Zion
Lutheran Church or School.
