Obituary
James M. “Jim” Poole, 78, of
Lincoln, passed away January 10, 2018 at his home.
Jim’s wishes were to be cremated.
A memorial visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday,
Jan 19, 2018, at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral
Home. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m.
James was born January 19, 1939, in Decatur, the son
of Readis “Pete” Poole and Dolly ( Lindsay) Poole.
He proudly served his country in the United States
Air Force where he was a radio operator and played
football. He married Susie Macon. They later
divorced but remained in each other’s lives.
Jim retired from the Bottle Factory in 1995 as
Manager. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge
and the American Legion Post 263. He enjoyed fishing
and golf, was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs
fan. His favorite pastime was being with his
grandchildren. |
Surviving are his children: Troy
(Jennifer) Poole, Talona Hassebrock, and Tracy (Kim)
Poole all of Lincoln; grandchildren: Jacob
Hassebrock, Taylor Probst, Brian Poole, Ashley
Poole, Jarrett Poole, Tyler Poole, and Zach Poole;
sister Rita Gray of Decatur and brother David (
Nancy) Poole of Lincoln also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s and
will be accepted at the funeral home.
