NBA roundup: Magic finally win in Boston

[January 22, 2018]  Elfrid Payton scored 22 points, and the Orlando Magic snapped a 14-game losing streak in Boston by delivering an impressive 103-95 triumph over the Celtics on Sunday.

Evan Fournier added 19 points as Orlando won for just the second time in the past 10 games and third time in the last 20. Aaron Gordon contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds.

Kyrie Irving scored 40 points on 14-of-23 shooting but was unable to prevent Boston from going winless on a three-game homestand. Irving hit 5 of 7 3-point attempts and also had seven rebounds and five assists after a one-game absence due to shoulder soreness. Jaylen Brown added 17 points for the Celtics.

Nets 101, Pistons 100

Spencer Dinwiddie scored 22 points and hit the game-winning shot with 1.1 seconds remaining as Brooklyn blew a 15-point lead late in the third quarter but recovered to win at Detroit.

Dinwiddie won the game when he took the inbounds pass from Joe Harris after the Nets called the last timeout. He gained possession behind the 3-point line, curled around in front of the foul line, got Detroit's Ish Smith to leave his feet and released the 13-foot floater in the lane before Andre Drummond came over to provide help.

Rondae Hollis-Jefferson added 21 points, eight rebounds and seven assists for the Nets. Tobias Harris led the Pistons with 20 points, and Stanley Johnson added 18.

Pacers 94, Spurs 86

Victor Oladipo scored 19 points and Darren Collison added 15 as Indiana roared into San Antonio and beat the NBA's best home team.

 

Thaddeus Young and Bojan Bogdanovic added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Pacers, who snapped a two-game slide and ended up 3-2 on the season-high, five-game road trip.

Pau Gasol scored 14 points to lead San Antonio while Bryn Forbes and Tony Parker, who both came off the bench, added 12 each. LaMarcus Aldridge hit for 10 points and 10 rebounds while collecting his 20th double-double of the season, and Kyle Anderson also scored 10 for San Antonio, which has lost three of its past four games.

Lakers 127, Knicks 107

Jordan Clarkson came off the bench to score a game-high 29 points and added 10 assists as Los Angeles routed visiting New York.

Clarkson scored 33 points in his previous outing. He was supported on Sunday by Julius Randle, who posted 27 points and 12 rebounds. Los Angeles won its second consecutive game without rookie point guard Lonzo Ball, who has a swollen left knee. The Lakers are 2-8 this season without Ball.

New York, 2-2 on a seven-game road trip, was led by Tim Hardaway Jr., Kristaps Porzingis and Michael Beasley, each scoring 17 points.
