Lincoln led by 19 at halftime and extended
their lead I the second half to put the game out of reach. Much
of the Lynx’ offensive success was due to the accurate shooting
of sophomore guard Trayvon Tyler (Rockford). Tyler went 7 of 13
from the field and finished the night with 23 points making him
the leading scorer in the game. Four other LC players scored in
double digits including starters Edwin Rivera (Puerto Rico), who
had 12 points, Richard Simpkins (Carlock) and Roland Austin
(South Bend) who each had 11, and Montez Crumble (Cahokia) who
came off the bench to score 13.
LC was strong on the defensive end of the court as well, holding
Rend Lake to just 35% shooting from the field and wining the
turnover battle 19 to 12. LC’s accuracy from beyond the
three-point arc was another key to their success as the team hit
on 15 of 30 three-point attempts.
The Lynx will look to keep their winning streak alive with
another home game on January 25th at 7:00 PM against the
Monmouth College JV.
