Obituary
David Paul Gissler, 83, of
Lincoln, passed away January 18, 2018 at Memorial
Medical Center.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
Friday, January 26, 2018 at Holland Barry & Bennett
Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m.
Friday also at the funeral home with Tracy Thomas
officiating. Burial will follow in New Union
Cemetery with military rites provided by American
Legion Post 263.
David as born September 7, 1934 in Lincoln, the son
of Karl and Irma (Auer) Gissler. He married Carol J
Hunter on September 7, 1956. She preceded him in
death on July 13, 2016.
Mr. Gissler proudly served his country in the United
States Air Force and fought for our country during
Viet Nam. He was a member of Lincoln Christian
Church, the American Legion Post 263, was an avid
bowler for 60 years and a member of the United
States Bowling Congress. He retired from the Logan
County Highway Department where he worked in
maintenance. |
David was the last of his immediate family. Surviving are his
children: daughter, Pat (Clint) Sheley of Lincoln; son Tim Gissler of Lincoln;
and son David Karl (Kathy) Gissler of Pflugerville, TX; grandchildren: Candace
Company (Henry VanBogaert), Ryan (Katie) Sheley, Laura Gissler, Rick (Sarah)
Gissler, Faith Keck, Jared Gissler, Marisa Gissler, and Haylie Gissler; great
grandchildren: Noah Company, Alyssa Company, Morgan Sheley, Brooklyn Sheley,
Elijah Grotjan, Isaiah Grotjan, and Gabriella Keck.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Carol.
Memorial donations may be made to Lincoln Christian Church and will be accepted
at the funeral home.
