The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team overcame a poor shooting
performance to defeat the Monmouth College JV on Thursday evening.
Lincoln shot just 41% from the field going 32 for 77, but still
managed to maintain a lead for most of the first half. The Lynx were
up by 12 at the break (48-36) and extended their lead to as much as
15 in the second half. Their eventual margin of victory was nine
points (86-77).
LC sophomore standout Trayvon Tyler (Rockford) once again led all
scorers with 22 points. Tyler added seven assists and five steals to
lead his team in both categories as well. Washington High School
grad Louis Griffith had 16 points in the game as well as three
assists and two steals. Roland Austin, a 6’7” forward from South
Bend, IN, led the team in rebounds with 11.

Although he was disappointed in his team’s shooting performance,
Lincoln College Coach Pat Lepper was encouraged by the way the Lynx
battled through. “We definitely had an off night shooting the ball,”
said Lepper, “but I liked the fact that we never got discouraged and
found a way to win.”
On Saturday, LC (17-1) will travel to Champaign for a Region 24
match up with Parkland College. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
