Springfield Clinic’s
Center for Women’s Health is offering a new minimally- invasive
in-office procedure called MonaLisa Touch® Laser Therapy.
Springfield Clinic is the exclusive provider of this therapy option
in the Springfield area.
This treatment is for those who suffer from vaginal or vulvar
atrophy. The procedure uses a laser to promote healing in the inner
lining of the vagina. The laser stimulates collagen in the layers of
the vaginal wall to improve the health of the vaginal tissue.
Doctors can perform the treatment in their office in less than ten
minutes. Patients on hormone treatments for vaginal or vulvar
atrophy can use MonaLisa Touch® Therapy as a non-hormonal option.
Symptoms of vaginal or vulvar atrophy include:
In total, the patient will receive a series of three
treatments over 18 weeks, one treatment every six weeks. Often, a
booster is recommended every 12-18 months.

The procedure does not require anesthesia before, and patients
will not need pain medications or rest afterwards. Some patients have reported
mild discomfort for a day or two after, but return to full activity by 48 hours.
The treatment series costs $1,500 and is not currently covered by
insurance.
