Atlanta Quilt Corner and Crafty Misfits Launch a Quilt Raffle for the benefit of Atlanta Memorial Community House

[July 26, 2018]   ATLANTA 

As a ‘thank-you’ to the Atlanta Parks Department for the use of the Atlanta Memorial Community House basement as work space for the creation and completion of over 250 quilts a year, the Atlanta Quilt Corner and Crafty Misfits created a military themed quilt for this year’s raffle. The proceeds will go toward maintenance projects within the Community House.

“We would not be able to provide so many quilts for the children of the Wee Care Tree, Atlanta; St Francis Children’s Cancer Center, Peoria; and Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital ER, Lincoln, without the space to store supplies, cut, sew, tie, and bind quilts,” said Donna Campbell of the Quilt Corner.

The quilt is on display at The Dixie Restaurant, McLean, Illinois. Tickets can be purchased at The Dixie restaurant counter or by calling 217-960-6261. The drawing for the quilt will be at 8:00 p.m., on Labor Day, September 3, 2018 at The Dixie.

The Atlanta Quilt Corner in partnership with the Atlanta Needlework Guild and the Crafty Misfits encourages anyone interested in helping to make gifts for local children to attend any of our meetings or contact Donna Campbell, 217-960-6261 or email djscalaska @yahoo.com.

Areas of need:

cutting and pressing fabric squares and/or binding,

sewing squares into strips,

sewing strips into quilt tops,
tie quilts,

binding quilts,

knit or crochet all size winter hats, scarves, mittens, and/or slippers.
