Saturday
On Saturday morning take part in a Bags Tournament starting at 11
a.m. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. entry into the Swigs area will be free,
but ID’s will still be checked, so be sure to come prepared. Brews
available during that time will be from the Draft Van only.
At 11 a.m. the Homebrew competition begins. Sponsored by Heritage
Packaging, this event is for anyone and everyone who has dabbled in
the fine art of home brewing. Whether you are a beginner or have
been making your own craft beers for quite some time, this is a
perfect opportunity to put your brew up against those of your
friends and neighbors and let the judges decide just who has found
that winning combination.
Each entrant may enter no more than four beers. Two bottles of beer
must be submitted with each entry and can contain no markings, logos
or other identifiers. As with the Pigs judging, this is a blind
event with each entrant being given a number and results recorded at
the end of the judging according to that number.
All bottles must be brown or green and 10 to 16 ounces. Competition
categories include IPA, Stout/Porter, Brown/Amber, Wheat, Pilsner,
or Miscellaneous. The beers will all be judged against one another
by a team of five judges. Judging will conclude at approximately 4
p.m. with the announcement of winners taking place soon after.
At 4 p.m. on Saturday tasting events for craft beer and also wine
will be opened in the beer garden. The evening includes live
entertainment starting with the tropical vibes of local band Toocan
at 4 p.m. followed by a mix of some more fun music provided by
Tennessee Borderline beginning at 8 p.m.
