MONSTER ENERGY NASCAR CUP SERIES
THIS WEEK: The series takes a week off for Father's Day on the heels
of Clint Bowyer winning a rain-shortened race at Michigan on Sunday.
... Bowyer's win was the ninth this season for a Ford Fusion, with a
Toyota Camry taking six of the other seven. That leaves the
Chevrolet Camaro with a lone win, by Austin Dillon, in the
season-opening Daytona 500. ... Chevy's struggles shouldn't come as
a surprise as they break in a new car body this season while the
Ford and Toyota brigades are able to refine older bodies on their
cars. ... Next up for the series, the road course at Sonoma Raceway
in Sonoma, Calif. ... *Kyle Busch leads the points standing with
664, followed by *Kevin Harvick (589), *Joey Logano (566), Brad
Keselowski (514), * Bowyer (510), *Martin Truex (506), Kurt Busch
(493), Denny Hamlin (468), Ryan Blaney (457) and Kyle Larson (443).
... Daytona 500 winner *Dillon is in 18th (292) and inside the

series race at Iowa. ... John Hunter Nemechek won this race last
year. ... Johnny Sauter won the race last week at Texas, his fourth

THIS WEEK: The series takes a break before the Kohler Grand Prix at
Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wis., next week. ... Scott Dixon won
the race in Texas on Saturday, with Simon Pagenaud second and
Alexander Rossi rounding out the podium. ... New Zealand's Dixon
leads the standings (357 points), followed by Rossi (334),
Australian Will Power (321), Ryan Hunter-Reay (308) and Josef
Newgarden (289) rounding out the top five.

THIS WEEK: After a virtual parade in the Canadian Grand Prix, which
ended two laps early due to a mistake on the flag stand when the
checkered was used early, the series regroups before heading to the
French Grand Prix next week. ... Sebastian Vettel won the race in
Canada, starting from the pole and cruising to the easy win. ...
Germany's Vettel leads the standings with 121 points in his Ferrari,
followed by Great Britain's Lewis Hamilton, Mercedes (120),
Finland's Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes (86), Australia's Daniel
Ricciardo, Red Bull (84) and Finland's Kimi Raikkonen, Ferrari (68).
