Obituary
Jimmie Edward “Pete” Birk ,75, passed
away at 7:54 p.m. on June 7, 2018 at his home
surrounded by his loving family.
Pete was born on August 20, 1942 in Newton, son of
George and Nellie (Stanley) Birk. He married Linda
Mulvaney on October 24, 1959 in Lincoln. She
survives him.
Also surviving Pete is his son: Ed (Lisa) Birk of
Lincoln, two grandchildren: Whitney (Josh) Birk and
Brian (Abby) Birk also of Lincoln; one brother:
Gilbert (Sandy) Birk of Lincoln, one sister-in-law:
Verna Birk of Clinton, and one brother-in-law:
Lawrence Jones of Lincoln. Pete was preceded in
death by his parents and his siblings: Hobert Birk,
Patricia Calvo, Linda Smith, Eloise Jones, Katie
Lee, and Benny Birk.
Pete worked until his retirement as an engineer at
Lincoln Developmental Center and was a member of
Open Arms Christian Fellowship. He was a United
States Army veteran. |
Services for Pete will be 11:00 a.m.
Tuesday June 12, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Lincoln with Larry Crawford
officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 a.m.
also at the funeral home. Burial at New Union
Cemetery will follow the service, where full
military rites will be accorded by the American
Legion Post #263.
Memorials may be made in Pete’s name to St. Jude’s
Children’s research Hospital or Memorial Home
Hospice.
The family would like to thank the nurses at
Memorial Home Hospice for the loving care they
provided to Pete.
