LINCOLN
- At Noon on Monday, Lincoln Mayor Seth Goodman and Aldermen Ron
Fleshman and Michelle Bauer visited the home of Anna Maxwell, 410
Holly Drive, in Lincoln to present her with the first “Home of the
Month” for this summer.

Maxwell was nominated by Alderman Fleshman, and lives
just two to three houses from alderwoman Bauer.
Maxwell purchased the home in March of this year and
shares her space with her companion Dirk Conrady and their funny
bulldog Teddy (named after Theodore Roosevelt). Maxwell said since
moving in, she and Conrady have been working to make the home their
own. They have taken out some trees in the back, updated the
exterior look of the home with new paint in a modern and popular
color, have seeded the lawn and upgraded the landscaping around the
home.
They are also in the process of putting in a privacy fence in the
back yard so that Teddy can have some outdoor space.
Fleshman said he nominated Maxwell because she had
made some significant improvements in the curb appeal of the home.
He also noted that it was good to see a young couple entering into
home ownership in Lincoln and getting settled in for the long term.
Both aldermen agreed that Maxwell has made some very nice changes to
the exterior of her home. Bauer commented that the home, while nice
prior to Maxwell buying it, was in need of some modernization. She
noted the previous paint color was darker, and not as appealing as
the new light gray shade.

Mayor Goodman said he wanted to thank Anna for taking
pride in her property. He presented her with a gift card for Ace
Hardware in Lincoln, and also brought along the “Home of the Month”
sign that will be posted in Maxwell’s front lawn for the rest of
June.
Maxwell is the first recipient of the home of the month for the
2018 year. All eight Lincoln Aldermen submitted nominations for the June home of
the month.
Those nominations included:
In Ward 1 nominated by Alderman Steve Parrott was the Wilson home at 125
Chestnut Street and the Stanfield home at 58 Northbrook was nominated by
Alderman Tracy Welch.
In Ward 2 Alderman Fleshman nominated Maxell and Alderman Bauer nominated the
Schmidt Home at 110 Oak Park.
In Ward 3 the Holmes home at 157 Portland was nominated by Alderman Ron Keller,
while Alderwoman Heidi Browne nominated the Johnston Home at 211 Pekin Street.
Alderman Jeff Hoinacki nominated the Dzekunskas home at 426 North Kickapoo and
Alderman Rick Hoefle nominated the Neuton Home at 712 Wichita in ward 4.
The names of the nominees were placed in a basket and the winner was drawn by
City Clerk Peggy Bateman at the June 4th meeting of the Lincoln City Council.
New nominees will be submitted for the first voting meeting in July and a new
winner will be named.
In the meantime, congratulations to Anna and Dirk.
The monthly awards will continue through late fall.
