Obituary
Roberta J. Virden, 81, of Latham
passed away at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday June 17, 2018 at
her home.
Roberta was born on November 10, 1936 in Bogota, the
daughter of Rev. John Thomas and Ruth (Hill) Speer.
She married Ray L. Virden on December 4, 1955 in
Bingham. He preceded her in death on November 5,
2016.
Roberta is survived by her daughter, Rae Ann Virden
of Latham; her grandson Ryan (Samantha) Virden of
Latham; her great-granddaughter, Gabriella Virden;
her brother, John (Grace) Speer of The Villages, FL;
and her sister, Betty LaCost of Mt. Zion.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; her
husband; her twin brother, Robert; and eleven other
brothers and sisters.

Roberta was a member of Vanburenburg
Baptist Church, and recently attended Latham Baptist
Church. The family would like to extend a special
thanks to Dr. Velasco, DMH Hospice, and special
family friend, Kim Mullins.
Services for Roberta will be held at 11:00 a.m.
Friday, June 22, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home, Mount Pulaski, with Rev. Mark Morgan
officiating. Visitation will take place from
4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 21, 2018 also at
the funeral home. Burial will follow the services at
Lake Bank Cemetery in Mount Pulaski.
Memorial Donations may be made in Roberta’s name to
the Latham Fire Department or the Latham Baptist
Church.
