The man whose body was found in
New York Giants cornerback Janoris Jenkins' house on Tuesday died as
the result of an altercation with Jenkins' brother, William Jenkins,
according to documents filed by authorities.
In a police complaint and warrant against William Jenkins, 34, the
Bergen County prosecutor's office said Jenkins, and Roosevelt Rene,
a 25-year-old Jenkins family friend and music producer, had a
"physical altercation" Monday night in Janoris Jenkins' Fair Lawn,
N.J., home, resulting in Rene's death.
William Jenkins was arrested in Canandaigua, N.Y., and charged with
aggravated manslaughter on Wednesday, one day after Rene's body was
found in the basement of the home. Multiple reports have said both
men had been living in the house.
According to the complaint, Jenkins showed extreme indifference to
human life and recklessly caused Rene's death before fleeing to
upstate New York, where his arrest occurred for a separate matter --
a parole violation. The complaint adds that investigators learned of
the fight while interviewing Jenkins in the Ontario County Jail.
Jenkins remains in custody in New York and does not yet have a court
appearance scheduled.
--Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston was officially
suspended three games for a violation of the NFL's personal-conduct
policy at the conclusion of an ongoing league investigation into an
alleged incident with an Uber driver in 2016.
The NFL "concluded that Winston violated the personal conduct policy
by touching the driver in an inappropriate and sexual manner without
her consent and that disciplinary action was necessary and
appropriate." Winston, 24, accepted the suspension, which had first
been reported last week, and issued an apology in a statement.

According to an NFL Network report, Winston's apology was part of a
negotiated settlement that resulted in the three-game ban. Per the
report, Winston did not admit guilt and told NFL investigators he
does not believe he did what was alleged, but he also acknowledged
that he does not clearly remember the whole evening after drinking
throughout the night.
--Outgoing Carolina Panthers owner Jerry Richardson was fined $2.75
million by the NFL after the league substantiated workplace
allegations that were publicly disclosed in December, the NFL
announced.
Richardson was accused of harassing female employees, and Sports
Illustrated reported that he had reached financial settlements with
at least four employees. Richardson removed himself from day-to-day
operations and made the decision to sell the team due to the
situation. David Tepper was approved as the new owner of the team
last month for an NFL-record $2.275 billion, with the sale expected
to close in July.
The allegations against Richardson, who turns 82 next month, sparked
the investigation that found that the Panthers didn't report any
employee claims of harassment to the NFL office until they became
public in December. The fine will go toward supporting organizations
that address race and gender-based issues and also fund league-wide
workplace training, according to the NFL.
