Obituary
Janie Elizabeth Kafka, 90, of Mount
Pulaski passed away on Friday, February 23, 2018 at
Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.
Janie was born on June 19, 1927 in Dyersburg, TN the
daughter of Edgar Augustus and Carmel Grace
(Crawford) O’Bryan. She married Joseph A. Kafka on
May 18, 1944 in Dyersburg, TN. He preceded her in
death on September 12, 2003.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Camille Chiles of
Rochester, grandson, Michael Chiles; great-grandson,
Ethan Chiles; nine foster great-grandchildren; her
brother, Glen O’Bryan of Alabama, and her sister,
Norma Lynn Garrison of Fenton, MO.
Janie was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband; her son, Kenneth Kafka; her
granddaughter, Margo Chiles; and two sisters,
Dorothy O’Bryan and Maxine Tyner. |
Janie was a teacher at Lincoln
Community High School. She enjoyed singing,
especially with her quartet. And loved to encourage
her grandchildren in music.
Services for Janie will be held at 11:00 a.m. on
Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at
Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in Mount
Pulaski, with Mark Weber officiating. Visitation
will take place one hour prior to services on
Wednesday (10:00-11:00 a.m.) also at the funeral
home. Burial will follow the services at Mount
Pulaski Cemetery, Mount Pulaski.
Memorial donations may be made in Janie’s name to
Mount Pulaski Christian Church.
