[March 06, 2018]    The Lincoln College Men’s Basketball team came up short in their final game of the regular season. LC (#17) was defeated by the visiting John Wood Community College Trail Blazers 81-76.

The Lynx got off to a strong start and led 40-34 at halftime. However, in the second half, the Trail Blazers were able to slow down LC’s momentum on offense enough to tie the score at 67-67 by the end of regulation. In the overtime period, John Wood got the upper hand early and outscored Lincoln 14-9 to seal the road win.

Four-out-of-five starters for Lincoln scored in double figures. Sophomore guard Trayvon Tyler led the way with 26 points. Freshman Roland Austin (South Bend) had 14 points, while fellow freshman Louis Griffith (Washington) scored 13 and dished out a team-high five assists. Sophomore Richard Simpkins (Carlock) added 12 points.

Lincoln ends the regular season with a record of 22-6 and will begin play in the Region 24 post-season tournament on Friday, March 9th at Danville Area Community College. LC enters the tournament as the #4 seed and will take on the #5 seed Illinois Central College at 2:00 p.m.
