Spring roundup: Kershaw, Forsythe lead Dodgers past Angels

Clayton Kershaw tossed three
shutout innings and Logan Forsythe homered and had three RBIs as the
Los Angeles Dodgers posted a 4-2 victory over the Los Angeles Angels
on Wednesday at Tempe, Ariz.
The left-handed Kershaw allowed three hits and two walks and struck
out two, including a punchout of Japanese two-way star Shohei Ohtani
on a curveball. Andrew Toles homered in the sixth inning to give the
Dodgers a 2-1 advantage, and Forsythe hit a two-run shot the
following frame.
Mike Trout had a run-scoring single, and Colin Walsh homered for the
Angels. Ohtani went 0-for-2 with a strikeout and is 1-for 11 in the
spring.
Angels right-hander Garrett Richards struck out seven in four
innings, while allowing one run and two hits.

Marlins 7, Astros 6
Isaac Galloway hit a two-run, tiebreaking double in the top of the
ninth inning as Miami defeated Houston at West Palm Beach, Fla. Jose
Altuve and Jon Kemmer hit homers for the Astros.
Cardinals 4, Nationals 3
Francisco Pena lined the tiebreaking single in the bottom of the
eighth inning and Greg Garcia homered off Washington right-hander
Max Scherzer as St. Louis prevailed at Jupiter, Fla. The homer was
the only hit off Scherzer, who struck out four in four innings.
Twins 8, Red Sox (ss) 1
Eduardo Escobar hit a two-run homer and Ryan LaMarre added a solo
blast as Minnesota routed Boston at Fort Myers, Fla. Mitch
Moreland's sacrifice fly plated the lone Red Sox run.
Orioles 7, Rays 2
Danny Valencia had three RBIs as Baltimore dispatched Tampa Bay at
Port Charlotte, Fla. Willy Adames homered and Christian Arroyo had a
run-scoring single for the Rays.
Phillies 2, Red Sox (ss) 1
Right-hander Aaron Nola struck out five and gave up one hit in four
scoreless innings as Philadelphia edged Boston at Clearwater, Fla.
Right-hander Justin Haley allowed two hits in three scoreless
innings for the Red Sox.
Rockies 5, Rangers 4
Charlie Blackmon belted a two-run homer to help Colorado edge Texas
at Scottsdale, Ariz. Joey Gallo, Drew Robinson and Ryan Rua went
deep for the Rangers.

White Sox 14, Reds 12
Luis Robert hit a go-ahead grand slam in the eighth inning as
Chicago overcame a six-run deficit to knock off Cincinnati at
Glendale, Ariz. Scott Schebler went 4-for-4 with a two-run homer and
Tucker Barnhart homered and had three RBIs for Cincinnati.
Blue Jays (ss) 13, Pirates 4
Devon Travis, Russell Martin, Roemon Fields, Curtis Granderson and
Dwight Smith Jr. all homered as Toronto trounced Pittsburgh at
Dunedin, Fla. Josh Bell and Ryan Lavarnway went deep for the
Pirates.
Yankees 11, Mets 4
Billy McKinney hit a grand slam in the eighth inning and Trey
Amburgey delivered a three-run blast in the ninth as the Yankees
scored 10 runs over the final two innings to win at Port St. Lucie,
Fla. Travis d'Arnaud homered for the Mets.
Blue Jays (ss) 6, Tigers 5
Max Pentecost lined the tiebreaking single in the top of the ninth
inning as Toronto downed Detroit at Lakeland, Fla. Victor Martinez
and Nicholas Castellanos homered for the Tigers.
Brewers 10, Royals 6
Tyrone Taylor singled in the tiebreaking run during a four-run
eighth-inning uprising as Milwaukee defeated Kansas City at
Surprise, Ariz. Ramon Torres went 3-for-3 with a run scored for the
Royals.
Padres 4, Giants 4
San Diego's Dusty Coleman hit the tying homer in the ninth inning as
the Padres and San Francisco played to a 10-inning tie at
Scottsdale, Ariz. Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner struck out
six in 3 1/3 innings and gave up two runs and five hits.
