The Lincoln College Track & Field team sent twelve athletes to the
National Junior College Atheltic Association (NJCAA) Indoor National
Championships held in Lubbock, Texas last week. Although the Lynx
did not have any athletes place in the top 8 of their respective
events, many of them posted career or season bests.
Sophomore Carissa Tinsley (Colfax) was a standout performer for LC.
She placed 9th in the shot and the weight throw. Fellow sophomore
Bralon Mack (Colp) was 17th in the shot. April Goetz, a freshman
from Auburn, Illinois, finished 16th in the 3K and 17th in the 5K
events.
On the men’s side, the 4x800 relay team of Elijah Grewal (Pagosa
Springs,CO), Ed Lopez (Rantoul), Christian Raymond (Cahokia) and
Abdoulaye Diawara (East Moline) came in 16th. Sophomore Sabree
Bakari (Springfield) was 16th in the high jump. Cameron Harris, a
freshman from Belleville, Illinois, placed 13th in the triple jump.
Freshman Jaiden Nelson (Danville) came in 12th in the weight throw,
and sophomore Tylin Hall (East Moline) placed 11th in the
heptathlon.

LC Head Coach Brian Herron saw plenty of positive takeaways from
this event. “The experiences that our athletes gained at this meet
will not only help us as we move into the outdoor track season, but
are valuable for our athletes as we get ready to move to a four year
program,” he said. “The coaching staff saw a lot of resolve from our
athletes this week which is just the type of attitude that we can
use to continue to improve and grow as a team.”
The Lynx will begin their outdoor season on March 24th at Augustana
College.
