Klokkenga, 85, of Lincoln, formerly of Emden, passed away at 4:45
a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center
in Normal. |
Visitation:
Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden (also
one hour prior to the service on Friday)
Service:
Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the church

Obituary
Joanne Klokkenga, 85, of Lincoln,
formerly of Emden, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on
Tuesday, March 6, 2018, at Advocate BroMenn Medical
Center in Normal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Klokkenga will be held on
Friday, March 9, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church in Emden. Pastor John Schurter will
officiate. Burial will follow at Hartsburg Union
Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at the church in Emden on
Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00
p.m., and on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Joanne Smith was born July 18, 1932, in Edmonton,
KY, the daughter of Fred and Edna Harper Smith. She
married Harry Klokkenga on Nov. 29, 1953, at St.
Peter's Lutheran Church in Emden. He survives.

Joanne is also survived by their
daughters: Debra (Loren) LaMar of McLean and Barb
(Mark) Kirk of Washington; four grandchildren: Dawn
LaMar, Loren LaMar, Jr., Lindsay Kelley, and
Samantha (Aaron) Bell; six great-grandchildren: William, Aaden, and Owen LaMar, and Ilaunna, Lilly, and
Camden Bell; three sisters: Marge Wilmert, Sue
(Cheng) Teng, and Nancy (Chris) Sprague; and one
brother: Larry Smith.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one
sister: Nell Tabb; and one granddaughter: Danielle
Kirk.
Joanne was a member St. Peter's Lutheran Church in
Emden. She had worked as a telephone operator in
Emden and in the kitchen at Hopedale Commons.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter's Lutheran
Church.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley
Funeral Home of Atlanta.
