Boston left-hander David Price
allowed one hit in four shutout innings during his first start of
the spring to help the Red Sox record a 7-5 victory over the Toronto
Blue Jays on Thursday in Fort Myers, Fla.
Price struck out five and walked one in a 27-pitch stint. The
32-year-old is looking to recover from a shaky 2017 campaign that
included an elbow injury that sidelined him nearly two months at the
start of the season and another two months later in the campaign.
"It feels good," Price told reporters after the outing. "This is
March 15 and I've never been able to have a four-pitch mix on March
15. I've never been this far along in spring training even though
I've only thrown in one game. I'm excited about that."
Christian Vazquez hit a two-run homer for the Red Sox. Steve Pearce
and Teoscar Hernandez drove in two runs apiece for Toronto.
