Arizona Diamondbacks ace Zack
Greinke may not be ready to start on Opening Day on March 29 due to
a groin injury, manager Torey Lovullo told reporters Thursday.
Greinke was removed after one inning on Wednesday against the
Cincinnati Reds when he felt tightness in the groin. The
right-hander was slated to be stretched out with a five-inning stint
before the setback.
"Zack went through a throwing program today, and he actually said he
felt good, but we're going to continue to be cautious through this
whole process," Lovullo said before Thursday's game with the Chicago
Cubs. "We're going to push back his bullpen (session) and just
continue to walk through it with his feedback and see what the next
step in the process is."
--Orioles designated hitter/outfielder Mark Trumbo will miss at
least three to four weeks after being diagnosed with a strained
right quadriceps, according to manager Buck Showalter.
The Orioles skipper told reporters that an MRI exam performed
Thursday morning pinpointed the damage.
Trumbo missed a week after initially injuring the quadriceps. He
served as the designated hitter in Wednesday's game against the New
York Yankees and re-injured it at some point during the contest.
Showalter said it was "a little discouraging" to learn Trumbo
suffered a setback.

--Aaron Judge said he learned his lesson after drawing the ire of
Major League Baseball for outwardly recruiting star Baltimore
Orioles shortstop Manny Machado to join him on the New York Yankees.
"It was all new to me. Lesson learned," Judge said after talking to
Yankees general manager Brian Cashman and learning he angered MLB
with his public comments. "Now I know. You learn something every
day."
Judge and Machado spoke before their teams played a spring
exhibition Wednesday. During the conversation, Judge couldn't help
but sneak in a quick pitch for Machado to join him and Giancarlo
Stanton in the Bronx.
