Both Hartsburg-Emden (8-1A) and Illini Central
(8-2A) volleyball teams won in their respective first round
state play on Friday evening.
Hartem (22-3-0) played Monmouth ICS (22-0-0) winning in two sets
25-15, 25-14. Class 8-1A state play is being held at Assumption
Central A & M Middle School.
The Stags now (24-3-0) go on to play Thornton Wolcott (14-0-0)
at noon today, Saturday. Later in the day they will play either
Grayville (25-1-0) or Pontiac St. Mary's (25-0-0) at 3 p.m. or
4:15 p.m.
Mason City Illini Central beat Kinmundy South Central in two
sets 25-10, 25-19 on Friday evening at Auburn HS.
The Cougars now (24-2-0) play Lewistown JHS (21-5-0) at noon
Saturday, and either Ashland A-C Central now (18-8-0) or
Champaign St. Matthew now (24-1-0) ) at 3 p.m. or 4:15 p.m.
