[March 17, 2018]  ATHENS  - The Athens CUSD #213 school board approved a preliminary plan to remodel and expand the Athens campus which houses grades 7-12.

The existing buildings were constructed from 1937 thru 1994 with the main part of the campus first used by students in 1969.

The plan touches every space on the main campus and includes a new HVAC system, fire sprinklers, lighting, ceilings, windows and flooring. Spaces undergoing a major remodel include the cafeteria, library, band and choir space, stage, science labs, and offices. Additions to the school include a new entrance and office, updated to modern security standards, new locker rooms, a new vocational education shop and classrooms, and an expansion of the current multi-purpose room into a practice gym.
