Spring roundup: Mariners' Zunino belts three homers

Mike Zunino hit three homers and
collected five RBIs as the Seattle Mariners beat the Milwaukee
Brewers 7-4 on Wednesday in Peoria, Ariz.
Zunino, who has five home runs in Cactus League play, hit a pair of
two-run shots and a solo shot. He finished the day 4-for-4.
Jonathan Villar had a pair of run-scoring doubles for the Brewers.

Red Sox 8, Rays 3
J.D. Martinez drove in three runs and Blake Swihart homered to help
Boston record a victory over Tampa Bay at Port Charlotte, Fla. C.J.
Cron and Brandon Snyder hit homers for the Rays.
Astros 8, Nationals 3
Josh Reddick went 3-for-3 with a homer and four RBIs and
right-hander Lance McCullers Jr. gave up two hits in 5 1/3 scoreless
innings as Houston knocked off Washington at West Palm Beach, Fla.
Matt Reynolds and Andrew Stevenson homered for the Nationals.
Cardinals 13, Marlins 6
Paul DeJong, Matt Carpenter and Marcell Ozuna homered as St. Louis
cruised past Miami at Jupiter, Fla. Marlins right-hander Zac Gallen
gave up eight runs in just 1 2/3 innings.

Phillies 7, Blue Jays 7
Rhys Hoskins homered twice and Aaron Altherr and Scott Kingery also
went deep as Philadelphia and Toronto played to a nine-inning tie at
Dunedin, Fla. The Blue Jays rallied from a five-run deficit to tie
the score on Roemon Fields' RBI triple with one out in the bottom of
the ninth.
Brewers (ss) 4, A's 3
Eric Thames hit a two-run homer to help Milwaukee defeat Oakland at
Phoenix. A's starter Daniel Mengden threw 6 1/3 innings of two-run
ball.
Padres 4, White Sox 3
Eric Hosmer and Hudson Potts went deep for San Diego in a victory
over Chicago at Glendale, Ariz. Matt Skole and Yermin Mercedes
homered for the White Sox.

Cubs 5, Rangers 1
Yu Darvish gave up one run in six innings against his former team,
guiding Chicago to a victory over Texas at Surprise, Ariz. Kris
Bryant hit a three-run homer, Kyle Schwarber had a solo shot for the
Cubs, while Juan Centeno homered for the Rangers.

Braves 3, Tigers 2
Brandon McCarthy yielded just two runs (one earned) in six innings
as Atlanta beat Detroit at Kissimmee, Fla. Mikie Mahtook homered for
the Tigers.
Twins 3, Pirates 1
Jose Berrios tossed five innings of one-run, three-hit ball as
Minnesota defeated Pittsburgh at Fort Myers, Fla. Pirates starter
Trevor Williams struck out eight while allowing two runs (one
earned) in 5 1/3 innings.
Yankees 9, Orioles 4
Aaron Judge hit two homers, drove in four runs and scored four times
as New York crushed Baltimore in Tampa, Fla. Jonathan Schoop hit his
sixth homer of the spring for the Orioles.
Royals 12, Indians 8
Frank Schwindel had four hits, including a homer, and drove in four
runs as Kansas City outslugged Cleveland at Goodyear, Ariz. The
teams combined for six home runs, and the starting pitchers, the
Royals' Jason Hammel and the Indians' Carlos Carrasco, each allowed
six runs.
Giants 14, Diamondbacks 0
Andrew McCutchen and Joe Panik homered, and Panik, Brandon Belt and
Buster Posey each collected three hits as San Francisco routed
Arizona in Scottsdale, Ariz. David Peralta had a hit and drew two
walks for the Diamondbacks.
