Lincoln College Announces Summer Class Schedule
Both Online and On-Campus Classes Available; Discounted Rate for Local Students

LINCOLN

Lincoln College will again be offering both online and on-campus classes this summer, with the online courses beginning May 14 and the on-campus classes starting June 25.

For 2018, the total number of summer classes offered has been expanded to 14, including six online classes and eight traditional format classes. Subjects include biology, business, communications, English, geography, math, philosophy, political science, psychology and sport management.

“These courses are a great opportunity for students already enrolled at Lincoln College, as well as for adult learners and high school students who want to jump-start their college education,” said Michelle Baldwin, Dean of Faculty and Instruction at Lincoln College.

“Best of all, we are able to offer a discounted rate to Logan County residents and to dual credit students at Illini Central in Mason City. The assistance will significantly reduce the cost of these classes, making them very competitive with public university and college classes, including community college classes,” Baldwin added.

The discounted rate for Logan County and Illini Central students is $140 per credit hour, which is competitive with community college rates and below the cost of most public universities.

Baldwin also pointed out that the summer classes, like all courses at Lincoln College, do not require students to purchase text books, since all book rentals are included in the tuition cost at Lincoln College.

In addition, federal Pell Grants can be applied to summer school for students who are eligible. Because summer school falls under the 2017-18 school year, new students must be sure they complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Student Aid) for 2017-18, even if they have already completed a FAFSA for the 2018-19 school year.

Baldwin explained that this could mean additional assistance for incoming students, because the summer Pell Grant funds would not count against their maximum for next school year. For students already enrolled at a college or university who have not used their full 2017-18 Pell Grant allocation, remaining funds can be used for summer school.

Eligible High school students can receive dual credit for the courses – which means they can meet their high school credit requirements while also earning college credits for the classes. However, dual credit students are not eligible for Pell Grant assistance, as federal Pell Grants are not available to high school students.
