LINCOLN
In the spring of 1968,
Charlie Engelhardt and a group of Logan County square dancers formed
a new square dance club in Lincoln. Charlie was the first caller for
the club and the name, "Linpro Square Dance Club" was selected. The
name, Linpro was derived from Lincoln Park and Recreation
Organization. The Park District sponsors the club and provides the
dancers a place to meet, have workshops and teach square dancing to
area residents. The club met and continues to meet and dance on the
fust & third Saturday of each month. Workshops and beginner dance
lessons were held every Wednesday evening throughout the year.
After many years as club caller, Charlie's occupation required him
to move away from Lincoln and Ron Betzelberger was then selected as
the new club caller. Over the past 50 years, the Lincoln Park
District has been a faithful sponsor in providing an excellent
facility for the dances at an affordable price.
Through this program hundreds and hundreds of Logan County residents
have had an opportunity to enjoy this wholesome family activity.

The Linpro dancers are still active and provide square dance exhibitions for
local nursing homes, schools and churches. They have been regular participants
in the Relay for Life, Logan County Fair and the Lincoln Christmas Parade.
The club will be hosting a free anniversary dance on April 7, 2018 and want to
encourage all past and present area dancers to attend. We are expecting several
of the original "Charter Members" to attend. Please bring along any pictures and
memorabilia you might have. The dance will be starting at 7:00pm and cake & ice
cream will be served. Spectators are always welcome.
