Spring roundup: Kingery celebrates new contract with homer

A day after signing a historic
contract extension, Scott Kingery went 3-for-4 with his fifth home
run of the spring as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pittsburgh
Pirates 6-3 on Monday at Bradenton, Fla.
Kingery inked a six-year, $24 million contract with Philadelphia on
Sunday -- the largest guarantee given to a player with no major
league experience. The 23-year-old hit a solo shot in the third
inning and added a double. Andrew Knapp followed Kingery with a
two-run homer in the third, and J.P. Crawford also recorded two RBIs
for the Phils.
Lolo Sanchez stole home for the Pirates in the bottom of the sixth
inning.

Red Sox 4, Cubs 2
Starting third baseman Rafael Devers exited after sustaining a right
knee contusion in a home-plate collision in the second inning, but
Boston persevered to beat Chicago at Fort Myers, Fla. Yu Darvish
allowed two runs (one earned) in three innings in his final spring
start for the Cubs.
Yankees 5, Braves 1
Didi Gregorius and Giancarlo Stanton each hit two-run homers as New
York cruised past Atlanta at SunTrust Park in Atlanta. Sonny Gray
struck out seven and allowed one run in five innings for the
Yankees.
Cardinals 5, Blue Jays 3
A Max Schrock triple highlighted an eighth-inning rally as St. Louis
scored three runs off its former closer, Seung-Hwan Oh, to beat
Toronto at Olympic Stadium in Montreal. Marcell Ozuna homered for
the Cardinals, and Michael Wacha struck out six over four scoreless
innings.
Astros 5, Brewers 2
Kyle Tucker hit a go-ahead grand slam in the seventh inning as
Houston defeated Milwaukee at Minute Maid Park in Houston. Christian
Yelich hit a two-run double for the Brewers, and Brent Suter struck
out seven over five innings.

Rays 2, Tigers 2
JaCoby Jones and James McCann each hit solo home runs as Detroit
came back to tie Tampa Bay at Lakeland, Fla. Brad Miller hit a
two-run homer in the first for the Rays.
Angels 4, Dodgers 1
Matt Shoemaker threw four scoreless innings, and Albert Pujols hit a
three-run double as the Los Angeles Angels earned the win at Dodger
Stadium. Andrew Toles homered for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

A's 9, Giants 2 (10 innings)
Mark Canha had four hits, including the go-ahead single in the 10th
inning and a fifth-inning home run, as Oakland won at AT&T Park in
San Francisco. Hunter Pence collected two hits for the Giants.
Rangers 6, Reds 5
Nomar Mazara and Rougned Odor homered for Texas in a win over
Cincinnati at Arlington, Texas. Scooter Gennett hit a three-run
triple for the Reds.
Diamondbacks 7, Indians 0
Zack Greinke threw six shutout innings, and four Arizona pitchers
combined to one-hit Cleveland at Chase Field in Phoenix. Indians
starter Carlos Carrasco gave up six runs on five hits in four
innings.
