Kyle Turris scored the only goal
of a shootout Tuesday night as the Nashville Predators snapped a
three-game losing streak with a 2-1 win over the visiting Minnesota
Wild.
Pekka Rinne made 22 saves to earn the win, and he also stopped two
shots in the shootout. Minnesota's final shooter, Mikko Koivu,
missed the net completely to send the Wild to a second straight
defeat.
The result gave the Predators their 49th win of the season and 109
points, three clear of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the best total in
the NHL.
Minnesota's Eric Staal tied the game with a goal at 16:45 of the
third period. Nashville's Roman Josi scored in the first period.
Jets 5, Bruins 4 (SO)
Patrik Laine scored the decisive goal in the shootout and Brandon
Tanev had a hat trick as streaking Winnipeg beat Boston.
Tanev and Joe Morrow provided the goal-scoring in regulation, and
Connor Hellebuyck made 28 saves for Winnipeg, which won its fourth
straight game in overtime and its sixth in a row overall.
David Pastrnak, Torey Krug, Danton Heinen and Ryan Donato all scored
for the Bruins. Anton Khudobin finished with 28 saves as Boston
capped its four-game road trip at 2-0-2 and fell to 4-2-3 in March.
Blues 3, Sharks 2 (OT)
Vladimir Tarasenko scored his second goal of the night in overtime
and goalie Jake Allen made 22 saves as St. Louis beat visiting San
Jose for its sixth consecutive win.
Tarasenko was parked alone at the side of the net at 2:33 of
overtime when Vladimir Sobotka made a terrific pass to him for an
easy tally.
The Blues snapped San Jose's eight-game winning streak a few nights
after ending the 10-game winning spree of the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Islanders 4, Senators 3
Andrew Ladd scored with 2:03 to go to break a late tie as New York
handed Ottawa its sixth straight loss.
Anders Lee, Anthony Beauvillier and Brock Nelson also scored goals
for the Islanders, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Jaroslav Halak stopped 33 shots to pick up his first win in 11
starts. It was just the third win in 17 games (3-10-4) for New York,
which was officially eliminated from playoff contention on Monday
night with a 3-0 loss to the Florida Panthers.
Blue Jackets 7, Oilers 3
Thomas Vanek's hat trick in a four-point game was key as visiting
Columbus scored seven unanswered goals en route to a lopsided win
over Edmonton.
Oilers star Connor McDavid netted three points to strengthen his
league points lead. However, Vanek stole the show for a Columbus
squad that has won 11 of 12 outings and sits one point back of the
Pittsburgh Penguins for second place in the Metropolitan Division.

McDavid, who is starting to pull away in the scoring race, collected
his 100th point of the season when he set up a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
goal 3:37 into the affair. McDavid became the first Oilers skater to
reach the century mark in consecutive seasons since Wayne Gretzky
and Mark Messier did in 1986-87 and 1987-88.
Stars 3, Flyers 2 (OT)
Alexander Radulov scored the deciding goal in overtime to lift host
Dallas over Philadelphia.
The Stars snapped an eight-game losing streak and kept their
fleeting playoff hopes alive.
Radulov scored the winner 40 seconds into the extra period after a
long distance pass from John Klingberg to Tyler Seguin was just
onside and allowed Seguin and Radulov a two-man breakaway. Seguin
carried the puck into the crease before passing to Radulov, who beat
Flyers goaltender Petr Mrazek.
Red Wings 5, Penguins 2
Luke Glendening had two goals, Darren Helm contributed a goal and
two assists, and Detroit surprised visiting Pittsburgh.
Detroit defenseman Niklas Kronwall recorded his 400th career point
with a first-period goal, and rookie defenseman Joe Hicketts notched
the first two points of his career with two assists. Frans Nielsen
scored the go-ahead goal.
Sidney Crosby and Kris Letang scored for the Penguins.
Devils 4, Hurricanes 3
Stefan Noesen scored with 1:33 remaining as New Jersey rallied with
two goals in the final nine minutes to edge visiting Carolina.
The outcome just about doomed any playoff chances for the
Hurricanes.
New Jersey holds the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference
with less than two weeks to play in the regular season. Carolina is
nine points out of that spot with five games remaining.
Canucks 4, Ducks 1
Alex Biega's goal at 3:03 of the third period spurred Vancouver to a
victory over visiting Anaheim.
Biega broke a 1-1 tie as his fluttering slap shot sailed over Ducks
goaltender John Gibson. The goal was Biega's first of the season and
the second of his NHL career. He had gone 131 games -- since Feb.
16, 2015 -- without scoring.
The Canucks, who will miss the playoffs, posted their third win in
four games after losing seven straight. The Ducks took only their
second loss in the past seven games.
