NBA roundup: Heat crush low-scoring Cavs

[March 28, 2018]  The Miami Heat led from the outset and routed the visiting Cavaliers 98-79 on Tuesday, holding Cleveland to its lowest point total of the season.

Miami's Kelly Olynyk scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed five rebounds in 25 minutes off the bench. James Johnson and Josh Richardson each had 15 points for the Heat. Dwyane Wade had 12 points, four assists and four blocks in just 17 minutes while Goran Dragic added 10 points.

LeBron James scored 18 points with six rebounds and seven assists -- but six turnovers -- for Cleveland, and Rodney Hood had 15 points off the bench. Jordan Clarkson and Jose Calderon each scored 11.

Cleveland center Kevin Love took an elbow to the face from Miami center Jordan Mickey while trying to draw a charging foul just 1:22 into the first quarter. Love left the game and had a front tooth visibly loose after the collision. He came back to play briefly and scored just one point in seven first-half minutes before sitting out the second half.

Trail Blazers 107, Pelicans 103

Damian Lillard scored 28 of his 41 points in the second half as visiting Portland defeated New Orleans.

Jusuf Nurkic added 21 points and 10 rebounds, Evan Turner scored 14 and Al-Farouq Aminu had 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Blazers.

Jrue Holiday had a triple-double for New Orleans, finishing with 21 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists. Anthony Davis had team highs with 36 points and 14 rebounds.

Rockets 118, Bulls 86

Eric Gordon scored 31 points and his backcourt mate Chris Paul added a double-double as host Houston rolled past Chicago.

Playing without James Harden and Clint Capela, both of whom got the night off to rest, the Rockets nonetheless found little resistance en route to their 10th consecutive victory. The Rockets have their third double-digit winning streak on the season, and Houston has won 27 of its past 28 games.

Houston extended its home-court winning streak to 18 consecutive games, the second-longest streak in team history. The Bulls, who got 22 points from Lauri Markkanen, lost their sixth in a row.

Raptors 114, Nuggets 110

DeMar DeRozan recorded 15 points and eight assists, and Jonas Valanciunas and Fred VanVleet also scored 15 points apiece to help Toronto edge visiting Denver.

Serge Ibaka added 13 points while Jakob Poeltl and Pascal Siakam scored 12 apiece for the Raptors. Kyle Lowry had 11 points and eight assists for Toronto. The Raptors blocked 16 shots -- including four apiece by Ibaka, Lowry and Valanciunas and three by Lucas Nogueira.

Nikola Jokic had 29 points, 16 rebounds and eight assists for the Nuggets, who lost their second straight game. Paul Millsap added 20 points.

 

Wizards 116, Spurs 106

Markieff Morris scored 15 points on 7-for-7 shooting from the floor to lead six teammates in double-figure scoring as Washington rolled to an easy win over visiting San Antonio.

Otto Porter Jr. added 14 points for the Wizards, who snapped a three-game losing streak. Jodie Meeks scored 13 points, Marcin Gortat, Kelly Oubre Jr. and Ramon Sessions hit for 12 each, and Mike Scott tallied 11 for Washington.

Spurs forward LaMarcus Aldridge, who scored a team-high 13 points, exited for good in the second quarter due to a left knee contusion. He will undergo an MRI exam Wednesday morning.

Mavericks 103, Kings 97

Harrison Barnes scored 20 points and Dennis Smith Jr. added 19 to lead visiting Dallas over Sacramento.

Skal Labissiere had 19 points to lead the Kings, who have lost three of four.

Dallas snapped a five-game losing streak by holding Sacramento to 40.9 percent shooting from the floor, including 26.1 percent from 3-point range. Doug McDermott had 15 points off the bench for the Mavericks.

Pacers 92, Warriors 81

Indiana tightened the defensive screws on Golden State in the second half, limiting the defending NBA champions to 33 points in the final 24 minutes en route to a victory in Oakland, Calif.

The Warriors fell for the second straight game with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Kevin Durant and Draymond Green out of action.

Victor Oladipo had a game-high 24 points for the Pacers. Nick Young led the Warriors with 12 points.

Clippers 105, Bucks 98

A 13-0, fourth-quarter run enabled Los Angeles to rally for a win over visiting Milwaukee.

Down 88-83 after Milwaukee's Tyler Zeller canned two free throws with 8:17 left, the Clippers rallied behind Austin Rivers. The son of coach Doc Rivers accounted for the first 10 points in the run, scoring seven and assisting on Tobias Harris' tiebreaking 3-pointer with 5:32 left.

Harris paced the Clippers with 19 points. Lou Williams came off the bench to score 16, while DeAndre Jordan added 12 points and 16 rebounds. Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 26 points for the Bucks, adding nine rebounds, seven assists and five blocked shots.
