Obituary
Virginia House Malerich of Lincoln
passed away peacefully in her home on March 10th at
100 years of age.
A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday,
March 24, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the First
Presbyterian Church in Lincoln with Rev. Adam Quine
officiating.
Born in Alexis, Illinois on September 20,, 1917- the
second child to Fred and Anna House- Hilda Virginia
House moved with her family to Lincoln around 1920
and has called Lincoln ‘home’ ever since. She had 2
brothers, Bart and Paul House, both now deceased,
and one sister, Mary Ingrid (House) Hadley-Nankivil.
Virginia married her high school sweetheart, Edward
M. Malerich in November of 1939, had five children
together and enjoyed 72 years of marriage until his
death two weeks before his 96th birthday in 2012.
Their children are Edward P. Malerich, Jon F.
Malerich, Thomas M. (Elizabeth) Malerich, Mary
Elizabeth(Raymond) Ellinghaus and June Alice(David)
Humphreys. Together, Virginia and her husband also
leave behind 10 grandchildren and five great
grandchildren. |
Virginia has enjoyed actively participating in many
community clubs and organizations, including Musical Arts, the
Notabelles and PEO, as well as providing costumes for community
productions and teaching Sunday school at the First Presbyterian
Church throughout the years.
‘Broadening her horizons’ is a theme she has emphasized her entire
life. She never missed an opportunity to learn about other cultures,
art, food, and religious ideas, and held a genuine interest in all
things unusual and exotic to Midwestern America.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in her
memory.
