"I can't believe the time has come for me to
say this but I would like to announce that I will be declaring
for the 2018 NBA Draft," Bagley's post reads in part. "I learned
a lot this year on and off of the court and I'm thankful for the
opportunity. Thank you Duke!!!"
Considered one of the draft's top prospects, Bagley, a 6-foot-11
forward, averaged 21 points and 11.1 rebounds for the Blue
Devils this season. He was named the Atlantic Coast Conference's
rookie and player of the year, becoming the second player in the
ACC's 65-year history to take home both awards in the same
season. Duke's Jahlil Okafor accomplished the feat in 2014-15.
--Miles Bridges will enter the NBA draft, giving up his final
two seasons of eligibility with Michigan State, the school
announced.
Bridges flirted with turning pro last year but ultimately
returned and helped lead the Spartans to a Big Ten
regular-season title and an NCAA Tournament berth. The Spartans
were eliminated in the second round by Syracuse.
Bridges, a 6-foot-7 forward, averaged 17.1 points, 7.0 rebounds
and 2.7 assists this season, earning second-team All American
honors. He announced that he will be represented by agent Rich
Paul, who also represents LeBron James.
--Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton, fresh off producing
positive results in his first year on the job, agreed to a
two-year extension with the school.
The extension to Boynton's original five-year deal, which keeps
him under contract through the 2023-24 season, increases his
annual salary to $1.6 million and includes $125,000 raises for
each subsequent year.
Boynton, 36, was named head coach a year ago after first serving
as an assistant at the school. Oklahoma State finished 21-15
this season.
