Obituary
Irene A. Melton, 79, of McLean,
passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at her
daughter's home.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 1,
2018, at 10:00 a.m. at the Quiram Peasley Funeral
Home with Mr. Tony Billingsley officiating.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 30, 2018
from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the McLean Cemetery.
Irene Adell Gordon was born on April 3, 1939, in
McLean, the daughter of James William and Velma Lee
Smith Gordon. She was united in marriage to Joseph
"Ben" Melton on October 23, 1956. He preceded her in
death on July 31, 2016.
She is survived by her daughters: Vicki Melton of
South Carolina, Paula (Al) Radefeld of Bloomington,
Darla Rogers of McLean, and Lori (Ed) Maher of
McLean; seven grandchildren: Kristin (Brett)
Anderson, Lindsay (Ross) Thompson, Dillon Maher,
Staci Rogers, Josh Rogers, Bunker (Amanda) Hill, and
Brien Huffman; eleven great-grandchildren: Harper,
Chandler, and Porter Anderson; Tanner and Cameron
Thompson; Bunker John and Cambria Hill; Noah, Lia
and Ruby Huffman; and Eunice Swank; and two sisters:
Louise Tuggle and Connie (Paul) Moran. |
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband,
four brothers and one sister.
Irene was a member of the Church of God Church in McLean and Olympia
South PTO. She was the curator of the McLean Museum. Irene was
employed as a teacher's aide at Olympia South in Atlanta.
Memorials may be made to the Olympia South PTO.
Final arrangements are entrusted with Quiram-Peasley Funeral Home of
Atlanta.
