[May 05, 2018]  MIDDLETOWN -  Earl R. Baker, 78, of Middletown, passed away April 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Middletown Methodist Church

Service: Tuesday, May 1st at 11 a.m. at the church

Funeral home: Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home

Obituary

Earl R. Baker, 78, of Middletown, passed away April 25, 2018 at his home surrounded by his family.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Monday, April 30, 2018 at Middletown Methodist Church. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 also at the church. Burial will follow in Irish Grove Cemetery.

Earl was born May 3, 1939 in Peoria, IL., the son of Ralph H. and Viola Mae (Blankenship) Baker. He married Geraldine "Deany" Skelton on February 14, 1971 in Villa Grove, IL. She preceded him in death on September 18, 2013.

He proudly served his country in the united States Navy from May 7, 1956 until February 24, 1959. Earl worked in construction for more than 20 years and was the New Holland Middletown Bus Driver for 27 years. He enjoyed watching sports on TV, fishing, and fiddling in his garage.

 

Surviving are his children: Toni (Dennis) McNew of Farina, Shelly Jackson of DeWitt, Kim Bernard of Champaign, Angie (Joe) Walker of Middletown, Ronnie Baker of Rantoul, Troy Baker(Jody Palladini) of Middletown, Mitzi (Rich) Schulte of Lincoln; 25 grandchildren, 42 great- grandchildren, 3 great- great- grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Deany Baker, children Kenneth Earl Baker, Diana Lynn Allen, and Curtis Eugene Baker, brothers Ralph C. Baker and Carl E. Baker and sister Lora Mae.

Memorial donations may be made to the family for help with funeral expenses.
