							Obituary

							Waltraud “Wally” Martha Jütte Howe,
86, of Mount Pulaski passed away on Monday, May 7,
2018 at Vonderlieth Living Center in Mount Pulaski.

Wally was born on June 14, 1931 in Simmerhausen,
							Germany.

She was the daughter of August Johann and Wilhelmina
Katarina Eberhardt Jütte. She met her husband,
Robert William “Bill” while he was stationed at
Rothwesten Air Force Base, and they were married in
Germany on September 4, 1954. He preceded her in
							death in 2007.

Wally was a Member of Zion Lutheran Church and the
							American Legion Auxiliary Post #447.

Wally was a homemaker, an awesome cook and baker.
She has made many pans of äpfelstrudel, sweet rolls,
bags of homemade noodles for family and friends, and
Christmas on Vinegar Hill. She loved gardening and
since her stroke in 2015, kept hoping for energy so
she could get back out in her yard.

She loved people and never knew a stranger. She
							enjoyed her children, grandchildren,
great-grandchildren and extended family; as well as
the Friday night group, her bridge club friends, and
the Legion Auxiliary gals. Wally and Bill were very
supportive of their grandchildren’s activities and
Wally was known only as Omi (endearing slang term
for grandma in German) to many.

She was a great influence on her
grandchildren…. “Always say hello when entering a
room or seeing someone, never wear your hat indoors,
always say please and thank you, when you do a job,
do it right the first time, respect your elders,
treat everyone the way you want to be treated, and
							no elbows on the table.”
Wally is survived by her children,
Greg (Charissa) Howe, and Julie (Carl) Oglesby; her
grandchildren, Katie (Tyler) White, Kristen (Brian)
Griffiths, Kim (Jesse) Martin, Kelsey Oglesby,
Breanna Howe, and Roman Howe; her four
great-grandsons with one on the way, Preston and
Phinn White, Lukas and Mikah Martin, and baby
							Griffiths.

Wally was also preceded in death by her parents, and
her sister, Margot Jütte Robinson of Easley, South
							Carolina.

Services for Wally will be held at 10:00 a.m. on
							Friday, May 11, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader
Funeral Home in Mount Pulaski, with Mark Weber
officiating. Visitation will take place from
							4:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at The
Family Life Center in Mount Pulaski. Burial will
follow the services at Lake Bank Cemetery in Mount
							Pulaski.

Memorial donations may be made in Wally’s name to
The American Legion Auxiliary Post #447.
