Wacky Wednesday is a
busy night for FFA members in Section 9.
It includes 4 Career Development Events (CDE) and Section 9 officer
elections.
In Quiz Bowl, teams answer questions regarding different areas of
the agriculture industry. Olympia FFA attempted to answer 15
questions in the categories of business, mechanics, science, soils,
and FFA. Participants included Josie Litwiller, Rebecca Magee, Cavit
Schempp, and Molly Schempp.
Ag Mechanics is a CDE consisting of a variety of mechanical
subjects. Olympia senior Auston Southerland, put his welding skills
to work in the welding portion of the event and junior Dawson
Banister was hands-on in the electricity portion.
Each student also took a test relating to their subject area.
Agriculture business is
a large area of study, but sophomores Josie Litwiller and Cavit
Schempp along with Auston Southerland were up to the task! They took
a test, answering many math and business scenario questions.

The night concluded with the process of electing the new Section 9 officer team.
Olympia junior Molly Schempp applied to once again, serve on the team.
Candidates prepared a series of speeches, which were presented to a group of
student delegates. Molly was elected as 2018/2019 Reporter. She will serve the
Section for the coming year through chapter visits, conferences, and hosting
workshops.
Senior Auston Southerland reflected on the evening saying, “I had a great
learning experience with all the other welders at the competition. FFA has truly
helped me with welding.”
