Obituary
Sheryl Lynn Carson, 62, of Lincoln
passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at her home
surrounded by her loving family.
Sheryl was born on February 8, 1956 in Springfield.
The daughter of Addison Ray and Georgie (Clemons
Parsons) Merritt. She married William Carson Jr. on
December 15, 1984 in Lincoln. He survives her.
Also surviving Sheryl are her children: Gail (Chuck)
Sloan of Lincoln, and Jamie (Kelly) of Atwood; six
grandchildren: Ryan, Hayden, Tate, and Sara Sloan
and Kyla and Hunter Carson; four brothers: Raymond
Merritt of Lawndale, Donald (Kay) Merritt of
Lincoln, Samuel (Lori) Merritt of Pekin, and Jason
Merritt of Decatur. She was preceded in death by her
parents, step -father Danny Parsons, and
father-in-law William Carson.
Sheryl was a waitress and bar tender at the Idle
Hour in Lincoln for over 30 years and she enjoyed
all the friendships she had made with the customers.
She loved spending time with her family especially
traveling to her grandchildren’s sporting events
that included basketball, soccer, baseball, and
volleyball. |
She enjoyed crocheting numerous baby
blankets for all her loved ones and also enjoyed
making her grandchildren mama’s favorite macaroni
and cheese. She learned how to make floral
arrangements from her mother. She continued the
tradition after her mother passed and felt that her
mother was right by her side while she made the
arrangements. She will be truly missed by all that
knew her.
Services for Sheryl will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday May
30, 2018 at Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home in
Lincoln, with Corey Campbell officiating. Visitation
will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday May 29, 2018
also at the funeral home. Burial at Zion Cemetery
will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Toys for
Tots or the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
