Recent Lincoln Community High School graduate
Blake Jones finished his high school career by earning a state
medal at the 2018 IHSA Boys Track and Field State Finals and
setting a new school record all in the same day.
Jones qualified for state in both the 800m run and 1600m run. He
made the finals in the 800m run with a PR of 1:58.08. Once he
accomplished that feat he scratched himself from the 1600m run
to save it all for the finals on Saturday. Talk about saving the
best for last. Jones beat that time during the finals on
Saturday and set a new LCHS record with a time of 1:56.04. His
stellar finish earned him a spot on the podium and a sixth place
State medal in the 800m Run.
Jones will continue his running career at the University of
Illinois-Springfield in the Fall.
Congratulations, Blake, on an amazing career at LCHS and that
State medal!
