Lincoln (2-1) used an intense defensive effort
and a 13-for-29 first half shooting performance that included
five three-pointers to take a 17-point lead (38-21) into
halftime.
In the second half, LC continued to keep the pressure on
Lindenwood and increased their lead to as many as 21-points. LBU
managed to trim that advantage to just nine with under a minute
to play, but was unable to come any closer before time expired.
Junior guard Trayvon Tyler (Rockford) led the Lynx in scoring
with 16 points. Tyler also grabbed six rebounds and dished out
six assists. Montez Crumble, a sophomore guard from Cahokia,
Illinois, was just behind Tyler for the team lead in points
scored with 13 and rebounds with five. Darnell Latham Jr.
(Chicago) and Julian Powell (Baytown, TX) each scored 12 points.
Lincoln Coach Pat Lepper thought his team performed well to earn
their first road-win of the season. “I thought we played hard on
both sides of the floor today,” said Lepper. “We did a good job
of taking care of the ball and made smart decisions. I was happy
with our effort and the guys deserved the win.”
Lincoln will try to make it two-in-a-row on Tuesday evening
November 6th when they host Olivet-Nazarene University. Tip-off
is scheduled for 7:30 PM.
