The Lincoln College Wrestling team kicked off their 2018-2019 season
with a strong showing over the weekend at the Bob Kellogg Open
			hosted by MacMurray College. I
n all, Lincoln brought five wrestlers to the open tournament and
eight other LC athletes competed unattached.

Due to the open format of the event, no team scores were kept, but
the Lincoln mat-men compiled the most total match-points out of any
			team at the tournament.

Leading the way for LC were true freshman Sam Dietz (Murphysboro)
and sophomore Brian Holloway (Oak Park). Dietz won the 141 lbs.
division and Holloway, who competed unattached, took first in the
			174 lbs. weight class.

Other placers for the Lynx included a second place finish at 133
pounds by R.J. Marrero (Petersburg), and a third place finish by
freshman Christian Dangle at 157 pounds. Fourth place finishes were
turned in by Jaylon Andrews in the 149 lbs. weight class and in the
285 lbs. division by Peoria native Desirgeon Keys who competed

Lincoln Coach Jordan Bakley was pleased with his team’s first
performance of the season. “Overall it was a great tournament for
our guy to start the season,” said Bakley. “We gained some valuable
experience and we have a better gauge for what we need to work on in
			the future.”
