On August 15, 2018, the Logan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a
dispatch of stolen firearms from a rural Mt. Pulaski residence.
Detectives learned that Michael Sluder had been staying at the residence
		on a temporary basis.
When the residents arrived home from work, they observed their bedroom
to forced open and firearms missing. Detectives were able to locate
Michael Sluder but the weapons were no longer in his possession. With
the assistance of the Peoria Police Department and federal agents, the
Logan County Sheriff’s Detectives were able to locate and retrieve all
of the stolen firearms in the Peoria area.

Michael Sluder has a prior felony conviction for Burglary out of
Iroquois County. This prior felony conviction makes his possession of
		any firearm a felony offense.

“I want to commend the Logan County Sheriff’s Department. Instead of
writing off the stolen firearms, the Detectives worked all night
with other investigating authorities in Peoria to locate and recover
			all of the stolen guns.
This hard work has a two-fold benefit. First, this effort recovers
the stolen items for the victims to make them whole. Second, it
keeps stolen guns off the streets so they cannot be used to further
criminal activities,” stated Jonathan Wright, Logan County State’s
			Attorney.
