Lincoln led by five at the half (35-30) and
stretched their advantage to as many as fourteen points in the
second half. LC held on to win by a final score of 83-76.
Four Lincoln players reached double digits in scoring. Sophomore
guard Darnell Latham Jr. (Chicago) led the way with 18 points;
while junior guard Treyvon Tyler (Rockford) was close behind
with 17. Tyler had a team-high seven assists for the Lynx.
Julian Powell, a 6’9” senior forward from Baytown, Texas,
recorded his first double-double of the season by scoring 16
points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Montez
Crumble (Cahokia) was good for 14 points as well.
LC Coach Pat Lepper saw the win as further progress toward his
team’s goal of finding the right mix of players. “We are
starting to see the combinations of players that work best
together which is part of the process in the early stage of the
season,” said Lepper. “Today we saw a lot of the guys who are
working the hardest and found a rotation that really clicked.”
The Lynx will hit the road for the next six games on their
schedule. LC will travel to Chicago on November 14th to play at
Robert Morris University in Chicago. Tip-off is set for 7:00 PM.
