[November 13, 2018]   LINCOLN - S.A.N.T.A. (Samaritans and Neighbors Taking Action) will be hosting their annual fundraiser, a drive-thru dinner on November 16th.

This event is catered by Peggy’s Place, 110 Clinton St, Lincoln from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. The menu for this year includes a pulled pork sandwich, party potatoes and green beans. Tickets can be purchased at 74K Photography at 710 Delavan St, or Peggy’s Place.

S.A.N.T.A. was started in 2015 for the purpose of helping struggling families in Logan County provide a Christmas for their children. This group saw a need after the discontinuation of the Angel Tree program. In 2017 the group was able to help 124 children in 47 families receive not only gifts and stocking stuffers for Christmas, but also hats, gloves and clothing. The number of children helped since the group’s beginning has reached approximately 350. Families requesting to be added to this list for assistance must only meet the Logan County residency requirement along with not being on any other “help” list for the season.

The headquarters for this initiative is 74K Photography. Not only are names available to be picked up there, they also allow the space to be Holiday Headquarters for the entire three weeks prior to delivery, where wrapping and sorting takes place.

Primary Colours Retro Relics, located at 513 Woodlawn in Lincoln, also will be a location where tags can be picked up by individuals/ groups that want to “adopt” a child for the season.

Sysco Corporation employees, located on the West side of Lincoln, have supported the S.A.N.T.A group for the past three years, “adopting” approximately 25 children each year.

Other organizations involved include the Lincoln Junior High Student Council, collecting items for the group, as well as the Lincoln College PTK Organization that donates a portion of the proceeds from their annual quarter auction to the group to go towards purchasing of gifts for children. In 2017, St. John’s United Church of Christ and Community Action also partnered with the group making it possible for 60 children to receive coats as well.

Anyone interested in helping with this great cause, by “adopting” a child, making a donation or wanting information on tickets and how to purchase for the upcoming drive-thru dinner can contact 74K Photography at 217-605-0317.
