							Ruth H. Hoppin, 102, of Lincoln 
							passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2018 at St. 
							Clara’s Rehab & Senior Care in Lincoln. 
 Ruth was born on October 16, 1916 in Dwight, Grundy 
							County, the daughter of William and Clara (Gantzert) 
							Hoffman. She married Lt. Frederic B. Hoppin in Camp 
							Adair, Corvallis, Oregon, August 14, 1943.
 
 Frederic preceded her in death in 1998. She was also 
							preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Wayne 
							and Reuel; and sister, Ethel.
 
 Ruth is survived by her niece, Rebecca M. Wagner, 
							Springfield (daughter, Ariana Curtis, husband Scott 
							and children, Riley, Jacob, and Elijah; son, Neil 
							Wagner, children, Brady and Isabelle), nephew 
							William M. Hoppin, Montana, (children, Jason, 
							Jeremy, and Tim), nieces and nephews.
 
 Ruth was an active member of the First United 
							Methodist Church, Lincoln, United Methodist Women, 
							and Lincoln Woman’s Club. She was a member of Logan 
							County Home Extension, American Association of 
							University Women.

							Ruth served on the Board of 
							Cunningham Home, Urbana. Ruth was a volunteer at St. 
							Clara’s Manor, Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital 
							Auxiliary, and Postville Courthouse.
 Ruth enjoyed sewing, crafts, bridge, and volunteer 
							work.
 
							Services for Ruth will be held at 
							11:00a.m. on Friday, November 9, 2018 at The First 
							United Methodist Church in Lincoln, with Pastor 
							Michael Paulson officiating. Visitation will take 
							place prior to the service from 9:30-11:00a.m. also 
							at the church. Burial will follow the services at 
							Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield. 
 Memorial donations may be made in Ruth’s name to the 
							First United Methodist Church or The Lincoln Woman’s 
							Club.
 
 Services have been entrusted to 
							Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral Home, Lincoln.
