[November 21, 2018]
After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday helps remind us
to support our community organizations. #ILGive is a campaign to
engage Illinoisans in not only participating, but giving to
organizations in the communities where we live. Live here, give here
on November 27. The United Way of Logan County will be participating
in this campaign this year.
#ILGive is an initiative of Forefront, Illinois’ state association
of grant makers, nonprofits, and advisors to the sector. Forefront
is building a vibrant social impact sector for all the people of
Illinois. Learn more at

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving that harnesses the
collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to
encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide.
Occurring this year on November 27, #GivingTuesday is held annually
on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping
events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick off the holiday giving
season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local
communities and to give back in impactful ways to charities and
causes they support.
Positive impacts in Logan County result from gifts to the United Way
of Logan County, which helps to support 14 different non-profit
organizations throughout the year that work in our community to help
those in need right here in our county. $100,000 was distributed
among these organizations annually in 2017 and 2018.

A $25 donation provides 5 meals or 2 round trips to a medical appointment for a
local senior, provided through the Community Action Partnership of Central
Illinois. A $50 donation provides a year of scouting for two local youths who
could not otherwise participate, provided by the Boy Scouts of America. These
are just some examples of the impact local donations have in our community,
provided by the agencies that are assisted by the United Way.
