			 [November 26, 2018]
The Lincoln College Women’s Basketball team picked up a road victory
on Wednesday at the University of Indiana-East (NAIA).
Lincoln trailed by two points to the IU-East Red Wolves the end of
the first quarter, but a jumper by LC guard Nautica Preston
(Chicago) tied the score at 13-13 early in the second. Lincoln then
pushed ahead and gradually built a nine-point lead near the end of
			the first half (28-19).

A strong effort by IU-East in the third quarter made things
interesting as the Lincoln lead shrunk to just two points at 40-38
to start the fourth. A Red Wolf three-pointer put the Lady Lynx down
by one, but the lead was quickly regained after a bucket by junior
Hannah Cameron (Lincoln). IUE recaptured the lead again at 56-54
with just 2:07 left to play, but another basket by Cameron tied the
score. LC then hit seven free-throws in a row down the stretch while
keeping the Red Wolves from scoring until the final seconds and
secured a 64-56 win to improve the team’s record to 3-5.

Lincoln’s Emoni Smith (Indianapolis, IN) had a strong game on both
ends of the floor as she led the team in scoring with 23 points, led
in assists with five, as well as pulling down five rebounds,
recording four steals and was good for two blocked shots. Other Lady
Lynx scoring in double digits included Rockford native Kaleia
Montiero (15) and Nautica Preston (11). Montiero led the team in
			rebounds with seven.

Lincoln coach Deronte Polite liked what he saw from his team in the
win. “This was a really good road win against a team that has played
one of the toughest, if not the toughest, NAIA schedule thus far
this season,” said Polite. “I was proud of the way we closed the
game. We were down by 2 with about two and a half minutes to play,
but stayed composed and outscored them 11-3 in the final minutes of
the game. That is a big step forward for us.”
Next up for LC will be a home game against Roosevelt University on
			November 26th at 5:30 PM.
