Hays named September Senior-of-the-Month at Mount Pulaski High

Skylar Hayes, daughter of Steven and Jessica Hayes of
Mount Pulaski, has been named September Senior-of-the-month at Mount
Pulaski High School. She was selected for this honor based on the
criteria of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.

Skylar stays actively involved at MPHS. She has been
a member of the Basketball, Volleyball, and Track teams all 4 years.
She is also involved with Student Council and Spanish Club. Skylar
has also traveled to Spain and Cost Rica as part of the exchange
programs through MPHS.
Skylar has received numerous individual class academic awards and is
currently ranked as #1 in her class. In addition to her academic
awards, Skylar has also received several sports awards. She has been
named to the 1st team All Conference in basketball for three years,
has been recognized by Illinois Basketball Coaches Association for
three years, AP All State honorable mention for basketball sophomore
and junior year, and Springfield Journal Register All Area team for
basketball the past three years.

Skylar has committed to attend University of Illinois Springfield
and will play basketball for the school. She plans to major in political science
and government (pre-law).
The Senior-of-the-Month program is sponsored by Conaway Handyman Service and
Downing, Przykopanski, Clements, & May Insurance Agency, Inc. They are also in
the running for the $500 Senior-of-the-Year award sponsored by Illinois National
Bank.
