LINCOLN
The Logan County Highway Department will be replacing a bridge on
300th Avenue near Delavan. The bridge is located about 3 miles east
of San Jose and 1 mile north of US Highway 136.
The project is scheduled to begin on October 3rd and is expected to
last until December. During construction, the road will be closed to
traffic.
The existing bridge was built in 1964. It has significant
deterioration of the bridge deck and the timber sub-structure. The
bridge has a weight limit posting and is considered to be
structurally deficient.

The project was awarded to Otto Baum Company, located in Morton, Illinois. The
low bid on the project was $295,457. Funding will come from Logan County’s
allotment of federal transportation bridge funds along with local property tax
funds.
Cooperation and patience is always appreciated during the construction season as
we continue to improve the safety of our roads and bridges. Status of our local
construction projects can be found on the New & Closures page of the County
Highway Department website.
