Obituary
Joyce Juhl passed away peacefully on
September 16, 2018 in San Antonio, Texas. She was
born in Lincoln, the daughter of Leonard and Eugenia
Juhl. Her beloved daughter Kara (1975-1995) was the
love of her life. Imagine their joyous reunion at
the gates of Heaven!
Joyce received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education
from the University of Illinois and was a lifelong
Illini fan. She later earned her Master’s Degree
from Michigan State University and was a teacher and
principal for 35 years before retirement.
She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in
Lincoln. Joyce was also active in the Lincoln
Women’s Club and volunteered at the local hospital
gift shop, the Humane Society of Logan County, and
the Pink Shutter Thrift Shop. She thoroughly enjoyed
spending time with her friends at the Lincoln Park
District.
Joyce is survived by her brother Gary (Debbie) Juhl
and niece Amy (Jeff) Sanders, all of San Antonio,
TX; nephew Todd (Jennifer) Juhl of Scottsdale, AZ;
and 5 great nieces - Maya, Rachel, and Leah Sanders
and Avery and Emerson Juhl. |
In addition, Joyce had many friends
with whom she shared a deep caring relationship. Her
faithful furry companion Bailey also brought her
much joy!
There will be a Memorial Service (no
visitation) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1409
Pulaski Street, in Lincoln on Sunday, October 7,
2018 at 2:00 p.m. There will be time for a gathering
of friends after the service at Immanuel. A private
burial service will be held at Richmond Grove
Cemetery, New Holland.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made
in Joyce’s name to Kara Leigh Broughton Memorial
Scholarship Fund, Western Illinois University, 1
University Circle, Sherman Hall 303, Macomb, IL
61455.
