This year’s theme is “Learn from the Locals,”
and the Library will feature discussions with local leaders
whose work represents outstanding features of the community. The
program is free and no sign-up is required. A continental
breakfast is offered. The Library’s community programming is
sponsored in part by a generous grant from the Illinois Prairie
Community Foundation Mirza Arts and Culture Fund.
Neal Stimpet, Chief Executive Officer of the Atlanta National
Bank will lead off the series on October 16 with a discussion of
the challenges and advantages operating a community bank.
Other guests for the year include Linda Canfield/jewelry making (December 11),
Nancy Reinhart/Canine Companions (February 12); Holly Thomas/Memorial Medical
Center Hospice (March 19); Chris Miller/National Weather Service (April 16); and
Mary Sunday/chalk pastels (May 14).
On November 13, the program will host a local muralist who will work with
members of the community to create a mural at the Library’s Union Hall building,
and on January 15, Rachel Neisler and Cathy Maciariello will present an inside
look at the Smithsonian exhibit “Change in Rural America” that will open at
Union Hall and the Atlanta Museum on February 2, 2019.
