The Lincoln College Women’s Volleyball team went 1-1 at the
Roosevelt University Invitational Triangular on Saturday. LC started
the day with a win over the St. Louis College of Pharmacy Eutectics
then dropped their second match against the host school, the
			Roosevelt Lakers.

Against SLCOP, junior middle hitter Elysa Smith (Metamora) led the
way for LC with eight kills and seven blocks. Fellow junior Mikayla
Seibert (Mackinaw) also turned in a strong performance in the win,
contributing seven kills, four digs and four blocks. Smith and
Seibert’s outstanding play helped their team pull off a three-set
sweep of the Eutectics by scores of 25-20, 25-14, and 26-24.

“We played a very consistent game against St. Louis,” said LC head
coach Mark Tippett. “Our defense was solid and we did a nice job of
adjusting to our opponent’s style of play.”

In the final match of the day, Lincoln faced Roosevelt University.
LC got off to a strong start in the match, going up 6-2, but an
eight-to-four run in favor of Roosevelt resulted in a tie score at
			10-10.

From that point on, Roosevelt’s offensive pressure and serving
strength kept Lincoln off balance and unable to put together any
			sustained momentum.

Roosevelt took set one 25-21 then ran away with set two to win it
25-15. In set three, the Lady lynx regrouped and again got off to a
strong start by winning the first five points. However, after
Roosevelt was able to earn a side out, the Lakers quickly regained
control and eventually erased LC’s lead. RU then pushed ahead to win
the set 25-21 and end the match.

“Roosevelt played very well today,” said Coach Tippett. “We battled
them all the way and made them earn what they got for sure. Some
days, a team just has your number and you have to tip your hat then
			move on,” he added.

The outcome of the day kept LC at two games above .500 at 15-13.

Next up for the Lady Lynx will be their final home match of the
season. Lincoln will host Knox College on Tuesday, October 23rd at
			6:30 PM.
